The new MARINER OMNIPURE® Series M55 marine sanitation system introduced by Severn Trent De Nora in October 2009 has received Bureau Veritas Process Type Approval for IMO Resolution MEPC.159(55). The patent-pending MARINER OMNIPURE Series M55 system has been specifically designed, manufactured and tested to comply with MEPC.159(55) effluent standards and performance tests for sewage treatment plants across a variety of marine installations. The MEPC.159(55) effluent standards, adopted by the International Maritime Organization's Marine Environment Protection Committee, apply to all sewage treatment systems installed on board on or after January 1, 2010.
The Series M55 systems use the same patented and certified treatment process as other OMNIPURE products to produce a sodium hypochlorite disinfection solution from seawater in the presence of sewage to effectively treat all sewage. The MARINER OMNIPURE Series M55 comes in a smaller, more compact size to fit into confined spaces of vessels, workboats and yacht installations. The MARINER OMNIPURE Series M55 systems can accommodate treatment capacities up to 75 persons for black water and up to 25 persons for black and gray water. The largest units treat a peak flow of 2,160 gallons (8,176 liters) of human wastewater per day.
