New Load Limiter Hoist Eliminates Dangerous Overload Lifting

Michigan Pneumatic Tool, Inc. recently announced the new NPK NRE-1000 Hoist, featuring an Automatic Load Limiter. The load limiter prevents lifting of a weight that exceeds the hoist’s load rating.

The NRE-1000’s load limiter constantly monitors the air pressure supplied to the air motor during lifting and will automatically stop the hoist when attempting to lift in excess of the rated load. Currently available in the one ton capacity.

Thin Liquid Gear Pumps from Viking—Offering a Centrifugal Pump Alternative

Viking's thin liquid internal gear pumps handle low viscosity liquids with high efficiency, offering many advantages in applications normally associated with centrifugal pumps. These pumps are ideal for even non-lubricating or corrosive liquids with low viscosities.

When considering fluid characteristics, operating requirements, operational versatility and lifecycle costs, the Viking thin liquid gear pump is a clear alternative. Viking pumps are self-priming and capable of reversible direction of flow, enabling use of one pump instead of two for loading/unloading or line stripping. The gear pump's flow is directly proportional to input speed, allowing it to meter process liquids. And their higher efficiency results in lower operating costs.

Thin liquid models are available in iron, steel or stainless steel, with adjustable end clearances and idler gears of iron, non-galling 770 alloy or PPO composite. The pumps offer capacities up to 17 m3/hr (75 gpm) and a pressure range of 0 to 7 Bar (100 psi) at viscosities from 0.1 to 4 cSt, or up to 17 bar (250 psi) at higher viscosities. Close or long-coupled options, with motor-speed operation, reduce overall system cost and space required.

Hydraulic Compensator

ALSTOM Schilling Robotics (ASR) now offers a lightweight 2.2-liter hydraulic compensator that allows easy monitoring of compensated volumes for fluid levels and seawater contamination. Volume can be monitored visually by reading the piston position against a scale on the transparent compensator housing, and an optional electronic sensor with RS-232 output can be added to provide exact fluid level readings. The housing is made of polyurethane resin for corrosion resistance and ruggedness. The hydraulic compensator can be incorporated into any equipment system, and multiple compensators can be daisy-chained to provide any desired compensation volume. The compensator is currently shipped with all of ASR's compensated manipulator systems and on the QUEST WROV.
