Apache North Sea Ltd has appointed Duffy & McGovern to boost its accommodation on the Forties Echo platform in the North Sea.
The six-month contract for a 16-man living quarters complex is worth around £100,000 to the Aberdeen-based offshore accommodation firm and sees Duffy & McGovern working with Apache for the first time in the North Sea.
The fully enclosed, two-storey complex, which is made up of four linked sleeper cabins, will house additional workers required on the rig during a workover programme. Each housing four personnel in a double occupancy arrangement and incorporating two en-suite bathrooms per unit, the A60 living complex complies with the Health and Safety Executive’s new guidelines for offshore accommodation brought in earlier this year. The HSE’s Notice 62 guidelines make two-berth cabins the new minimum standard for the North Sea and are the most stringent to date in the UKCS.
Units for the contract were provided from the company’s Aberdeen fleet. The contract includes installation and hook up offshore by Duffy & McGovern personnel and options for Apache to extend the contract after the initial six month period.
