Industry News - E&P Hotline - CGG starts work on Crazy Horse discoveryCGG starts work on Crazy Horse discovery

BP America has awarded CGG a contract to perform a high-resolution 3D survey over its Crazy Horse discovery in the deep water Mississippi Canyon area of the US Gulf of Mexico. The Crazy Horse discovery is claimed to be the largest field drilled to date in the Gulf of Mexico.

The work is being performed on a proprietary basis for BP America and joint working interest owner, ExxonMobil. Although BP already has licenses to existing 3D datasets over the discovery area, the company wishes to acquire higher resolution data specifically targeted to map the complex, largely subsalt reservoirs and their associated geology.
