Anadarko Petroleum is finalizing plans for development of the Tarantula subsalt discovery at South Timbalier Block 308 offshore Louisiana. The field is expected to come on stream in late 2004. Six development wells and recompletions are planned in the U.S. Gulf's subsalt shelf area, including additional drilling at Tarantula and in the Mahogany and Hickory fields. Elsewhere during 2003, Anadarko plans to drill six deepwater development wells around the Marco Polo and K2 field discoveries. First production from Marco Polo is expected in early 2004.

Anadarko also plans to drill as many as 10 exploration wells in the Gulf this year. The first deepwater well on the Jubilee prospect, which straddles the Central and Eastern Gulf, is expected to spud in the first quarter.
