Allis-Chalmers elects new board member

Houston, TX ... Allis-Chalmers Energy Inc. has announced that Mr. Ali H. M. Afdhal has been elected to its Board of Directors. Mr. Afdhal is an independent director and will serve as Chairman of the Compensation Committee. Mr. Afdhal fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Tom Kelly from the Board.

Micki Hidayatallah, Allis-Chalmers' Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, stated, "I have known Ali on a personal and business basis for over 30 years and expect his future contributions to the board will be substantial. His broad business experience, including his extensive background in international operations, will be a valuable asset to us as we grow in the global marketplace."

Since 2001, Mr. Afdhal, age 62, has operated and managed his family's international commercial and agricultural interests. Prior to that time, he acquired and developed real estate projects in England, Portugal and Spain.
