Aggreko wins ‘Fast-Track’ Power award for the second consecutive year

Singapore ... Dubai-based Aggreko International Power Projects, a subsidiary of Aggreko plc, the world leader in the provision of temporary power and temperature control services, has received the ‘Fast Track Power Solution Company’ award for the second consecutive year. The awards, held annually by the Singapore-based Asian Power magazine, recognise exemplary work and the vital contribution of companies in this sector.

The ‘Fast Track Power Solution Company’ award particularly recognized Aggreko’s contribution to the Oyu Tolgoi Mine project in Mongolia. Aggreko was contracted by Ivanhoe Mines, a Canadian mining company, to provide a fast-track power plant for their Oyu Tolgoi mining project in Mongolia, for the sinking of their exploration shaft.

Aggreko proposed and shipped from Singapore to China a 4MW temporary power plant. This was then transferred by train to Mongolia and for 540 km, through the Mongolian desert, by truck. Power was made available in six days, a period that included the commissioning process. The plant, installed for 80 weeks, enabled the sinking of the new exploration shaft without interfering with existing mining operations.

The Aggreko International operation, based in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai, is the main hub for equipment delivered to international projects and was selected for the award after an extensive selection process from industry nominations. The award was presented to Aggreko during the Asian Power Awards ceremony, which took place at Hong Kong’s prestigious China Club.
