New York, NY ... Platts and principal sponsor Capgemini today announced the finalists for the 2006 Global Energy Awards. Established in 1999, the Global Energy Awards annually recognize outstanding achievement and vision in the global energy industry.

“As the premier recognition event in the energy industry, the Platts Global Energy Awards are about raising the bar and highlighting innovations, efficiencies, new technologies and inspired management which are beneficial to our industry,” said Platts President Victoria Chu Pao. “The global need for reliable, environmentally responsible sources of energy has never been more critical, and Platts is pleased to showcase and highlight the leaders in our industry who are addressing these needs.”

“We at Platts are proud of our leadership role in the global energy industry. In addition to the prestigious Global Energy Awards and the renowned Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings, Platts provides mission-critical information, pricing benchmarks, and analytical tools to help industry participants make the best investment and trading decisions,” she added.

Judging for the 2006 Global Energy Awards relies on the expertise of an independent panel of international energy experts, including energy ministers, national regulators, past and present heads of major energy companies, and leading academics and legislators. The panel evaluated more than 200 entrants and selected finalists in 16 categories based on criteria specific to each category. Panel judges will select the Energy Company of the Year from this overall list of finalists.

The Energy Company of the Year and other winners of the 2006 Global Energy Awards will be announced at a gala celebration on Thursday, November 30, 2006, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. For more information, or to make a reservation to attend the awards, visit www.globalenergyawards.com.
