ParadigmTM, a leading provider of enterprise software solutions to the global oil and natural gas exploration and production (E&P) industry, announced today that John W. Gibson, Jr., the company's chief executive officer, has been selected to give the closing keynote speech at 3 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, May 20 at the 2008 Digital Energy Conference to be held at the Marriott Westchase in Houston, Texas. The theme of the conference, "More Bytes & More Barrels," explores how digital technologies are creating value in the upstream energy business today.

Gibson, who is recognized as one of the most influential IT people in the oil patch, will address past, present and future technology challenges facing the industry. Specific topics Gibson will speak to include:

  • The impact of proprietary approaches in the age of connectivity

  • A case study of changing a corporate culture in order to leverage information technology to achieve strategic goals and objectives

        •    Collective and distributed genius mitigates knowledge worker retirement

A visionary and thought leader, Gibson has more than 25 years of experience leading organizations in the global energy industry. He is a well-respected and sought-after industry advocate and spokesperson. Prior to joining Paradigm in April 2005, Gibson served as president of Halliburton Energy Services, where he managed the company's energy-related operations.

The Digital Energy Conference is a technical symposium sponsored by the Society of Petroleum Engineers Gulf Coast Section which addresses the merging of E&P with IT and the impact this has on the business of the industry. The conference will focus on leading edge computing and communications technology for the upstream oil and gas sector and act as a forum for E&P professionals to gather with IT experts to better understand industry opportunities and challenges.

Paradigm will be co-exhibiting with OpenSpirit, an independent software company that provides integration solutions for upstream applications and data, at booth #404/406. Conference attendees can view a presentation given by Paradigm Product Manager Emmanuel Gringarten titled "Workflows: Key to Productivity Gains and Consistent Results," which is part of the Shared Earth Modeling technical session to take place at 2 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, May 21.
