Pickup expected in oil service sector

The Louisiana oil and gas industry will switch from exploration and production to more of an oilfield support/service marketplace, according to a report prepared by several area economists. The study, "The Louisiana Economic Outlook 2004-2005," was released at a Hibernia Bank conference Sept. 25 in New Orleans. Some 41,600 jobs are expected to be added in Louisiana's oil and gas industry and several three other business sectors including construction and hospitality. The Division of Economic Development and Forecasting, College of Business Administration, Louisiana State University, released the report.
