Baker Hughes PMG inspects high profile pipeline in deepwater Gulf of Mexico

Baker Hughes Pipeline Management Group (PMG) has successfully inspected a high profile deepwater offshore pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico. The 24” line extends from the platform located 83 miles offshore to an onshore receiver. Because of delays and line damage experienced from Hurricane Katrina, the timely inspection of the line was of strategic importance to the customer. The inspection involved a difficult vertical launch, limited workspace on the platform, and design challenges involving the receiver traps. Although the standard PMG CPIG™ in-line inspection tool was damaged by the trap facilities at the receiver, the tool collected quality data on its first pass through the line.
