Baker Hughes announces September 2006 Rig Counts

Baker Hughes Incorporated announced that the international rig count for September 2006 was 949, down 5 from the 954 counted in August 2006, and up 42 from the 907 counted in September 2005. The international offshore rig count for September 2006 was 264, down 14 from the 278 counted in August 2006 and down 5 from the 269 counted in September 2005.

Excluding Iran and Sudan, the international rig count for September 2006 was 949, down 5 from the 954 counted in August 2006, and up 97 from the 852 counted in September 2005. The international offshore rig count for September 2006 was 264, down 14 from the 278 counted in September 2006 and up 1 from the 263 counted in September 2005.

The US rig count for September 2006 was 1,739 up 1 from the 1,738 counted in August 2006 and up 287 from the 1,452 counted in September 2005. The Canadian rig count for September 2006 was 446, down 36 from the 482 counted in August 2006 and down 51 from the 497 counted in September 2005.

The worldwide rig count for September 2006 was 3,134, down 40 from the 3,174 counted in August 2006 and up 278 from the 2,856 counted in September 2005.
