Technology Uptake

EVENT POSTPONED! The Technology Uptake Forum will not be held this year. Though the topic and content of this
proposed event reflect the high quality of board members and speakers attached to the project, there does not appear to be the necessary
public support to go forward with the forum.
NEW SHOW DATE: TO BE ANNOUNCED. If you have registered for this event please e-mail Lisa Carls, Conference Manager at

Technology Uptake Critical to E&P Success
Emerging technology plays a key role in exploration and development of offshore reserves; however, it is estimated that the E&P industry requires more than a decade to identify and adopt a new technology. These delays affect every aspect of the business and, in extreme cases, limit the ability to exploit reserves already identified.
It is not enough to launch a new technology, a market must be developed and the end user must be willing to incorporate the new technology into planning and execution of existing projects.
The Technology Uptake Forum, presented by Offshore Engineer Conferences & Events, will address issues surrounding the identification, adoption, and application of new technologies in the offshore, upstream E&P industry. A technical advisory board, Chaired by Eugene Murphy of Shell Technology Ventures, will develop a two-day program around the theme: Accelerating Technology Uptake to Lower Energy Costs.
Scheduled for April 11-13, 2005 at Moody Gardens Hotel and Conference Center in Galveston, TX, The Technology Uptake Forum will address issues topics that include:
Why VCs don't embrace new technology
Who influences technology uptake
The importance of early uptake
Fostering open innovation
Timing issues
Balancing the risk/reward relationship
Uptake success stories
Living up to the hype
Corporate structures that reward innovation
This interactive event is designed to maximize the exchange of ideas among delegates and presenters. This is achieved by eliminating formal, peer-reviewed papers in favor of brief technical presentations followed by an extended Q&A period.
