The BP Foundation has donated US$100,000 to the American Red Cross and $25,000 to the Houston Food Bank to provide Texas flood victims with food, health services and shelter.

The BP Foundation also will match dollar for dollar donations that company employees make to the American Red Cross and the Houston Food Bank to support relief efforts.

”Houston is home to BP’s U.S. headquarters and we want to make sure we’re helping our neighbors recover from the flooding that thunderstorms caused in Houston and throughout Texas,” said Iris Cross, the BP Foundation’s executive director. “These donations demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the communities where our employees live and work.”

With more than 6,000 employees, the Houston area is home to the single-largest concentration of BP employees anywhere in the world. In Texas, BP directly employs 7,200 people and spends more than $9.4 billion with local businesses, thus supporting another 32,500 jobs in the state.
