Saipem awarded engineering and construction project in Chile

Saipem, through its subsidiary Petrex SA Chilean branch, has been awarded a new engineering and construction contract by the Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile (CODELCO), a producers of copper, for the development of a water pipeline and all related facilities, including pumping stations. 

The pipeline, which will have a total estimated length of approximately 160km and reach a height of 3000m above sea level, will be used to improve extraction processes at the Radomiro Tomic copper mine, located 1670km from Santiago, Chile. 

The value of the project will be approximately US$560 million and will be executed in two phases, the first one will be engineering, and once the project is approved and the environmental permits will be obtained, the second one of procurement and construction will be executed.
